About
USF Graphicstudio was founded in 1968 by Donald J. Saff at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Created as part of a renaissance in American printmaking, the founding mission as an experiment in art and education continues today. Some of the most accomplished and influential artists from around the world are invited to work in residence, engaging in collaborative research with highly trained printers and fabricators to advance their practice and explore new technical and aesthetic possibilities.
Graphicstudio publishes small editions utilizing a wide range of printmaking methods such as cyanotype, intaglio, lithography, photogravure, relief, screenprinting, and archival pigment prints. Sculpture multiples are produced using traditional casting and fabrication techniques and more recent innovations including laser and waterjet cutting. Materials range from aluminum, bronze, steel, wood, and rubber, to unconventional mediums including lava (basalt) and pigmented resins.
Graphicstudio editions have been acquired by leading museums and collectors, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum in New York.
