About

David Krut Projects was established in New York in 2001 and exhibits works of artists active in South Africa, alongside American and African Diaspora artists.

David Krut’s collaborations with print workshops commenced 1981 in London and subsequently in post-Apartheid Johannesburg in the 1990s. Krut established the New York Artspace at the location of the print workshop of Master Printer Randy Hemminghaus. This was subsequent to his presenting the first US exhibition of editioned works by William Kentridge in Chicago in 1998. The New York Artspace is known for introducing to American audiences the works of Kentridge, El Anatsui, Aida Muluneh, Santu Mofokeng, and Caribbean artist Christopher Cozier.
